Thrice's Horizons/West completes the arc begun with 2021’s Horizons/East, pairing introspective songwriting with sweeping, self-produced arrangements. Engineered by guitarist Teppei Teranishi and mixed by Scott Evans, the album tempers rhythmic complexity with atmosphere and space. Teranishi calls it “less dense,” while vocalist Dustin Kensrue describes it as their first true sequel — two halves of a larger emotional and political vision. Blending the post-rock textures of Beggars and Major/Minor with the angular drive of Horizons/East, Thrice refine their sound without sacrificing nuance. Kensrue’s voice shifts from whisper to roar across meditations on memory, perception, and social influence. The band urge listeners not to adopt beliefs, but to examine them. More than two decades in, Thrice remain committed to drawing clarity from chaos.
